- What photography services do you offer?
- I shoot a large variety of business-use photography. This includes headshot photography, professional portraits, editorial stories, conferences, corporate events, product photography, company PR and business portfolios.
2. Where are you based?
- My professional portrait studio is located in the village of Girton, near Cambridge, but my equipment is fully portable. I travel where I’m needed and often shoot across Cambridgeshire, in London and further afield.
3. What is your photography style?
- My photography look is achieved through my choice of camera, lens, lighting and post processing. I shoot with professional camera bodies and lenses and typically use off-camera strobes. I process my images in a fairly natural way. I want you to look your best, but I also want you to look yourself! I’m all about authenticity and so you should be. Genuine and authentic images say so much more, so I shy away from heavy retouching and AI imagery.
4. I’m worried about having my photo taken, what should I expect?
- Being in front of the camera can be daunting for many individuals, so I approach each photoshoot with friendly professionalism. My goal is to create a comfortable environment and bring out the best in people and their teams. The resulting images are much more natural. Importantly, my subjects not only end up enjoying their photography experience with me, but frequently recommend and re-book me!

5. What industries do you shoot for?
- I specialise in business and corporate photography. I shoot for small, local businesses, funded start-up companies, as well as established business both regionally and nationally. Regular clients include leaders in bio-technology, agri-technology, manufacturing, science, tech and education. I also shoot a lot of work for and via the University of Cambridge.
6. What is the booking and quoting process?
- I quote per job because every commission is different and there are many factors involved. Please contact me with the details of your project and I will be able to provide a quote. A rough brief, shot list, reference images and anything shot previously are always good to share at this stage.
- As a quick price guide, my studio portrait/headshot photography starts from £250. Product photography starts from £495. I work more generally to half day rates of £495-595 and full day rates of £695-850 for conferences, events and business portfolios. All quotes include my own costs, the shoot and edit time, plus an assumption that high resolution digital files will be delivered to you without limitations on their use. VAT isn’t applicable.
6. Do you shoot weddings?
- I started my business in Cambridge as a wedding photographer, so yes, I still shoot some wedding work. If you wish to speak to me about wedding or family photography work, please visit www.mikethorntonphotography.com.
